For today's #MondayMap, we explore our new Housing Affordability Report, which has charts and maps about the share of listings affordable to a household earning $75,000.
In the Indy MSA, Marion County has the most affordable listings — 45% of listings are affordable to a household earning $75,000. In Boone, Hancock, and Hendricks, less than 12% of listings are affordable. The rate is under 4% in Hamilton County.
Other large urban counties are similar to Marion County. In Allen County, 41% of listings are affordable. The rate is 43% in Lake County, 49% in St. Joseph County, and 60% in Vanderburgh County.
Bartholomew County and Clarke County have a smaller share of affordable listings (36% and 29%).
In many rural counties, the vast majority of listings are affordable. In a swath of the state stretching from Fulton County to Randpolph County in the east, more than 70% of listings are attainable for a $75,000 household. The same is true on the west side of the state, from Warren County to Gibson County.
