What are suburban, and urban counties?

Urban counties are the contain the principle city of a metro area with more than 250K people. Suburban counties are the other counties in the metro.

What are rural counties?

Rural counties have a population less than 40,000, fewer than 100 people per square mile, and fewer than 10,000 people in the largest city.
