Monday Map: A First Look at Spring Sales Trends
This week's Monday Map offers an early glimpse into the spring market, focusing on year-over-year sales growth over the past three weeks.
To ensure reliability, we only map sales growth in counties with more than five sales during last year’s comparison period. This time of year, that typically includes Indiana’s largest cities.
Cities with Sales Growth
- Bloomington: 22 sales, up 18% year-over-year.
- South Bend: 51 sales, up 10%.
- Muncie: 20% growth, showing strong momentum.
- Indianapolis Suburbs: Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, and Hancock counties all saw increases.
- Other Growing Markets: Lake County, Columbus, Fort Wayne, and Clarksville/Jeffersonville.
Cities with Sales Declines
- Indianapolis: 168 sales, down 9% from last year.
- Boone & Morgan Counties: Also declined.
- Kokomo: 14 sales, half of last year’s volume. However, last February was a growth surge for Howard County, which had 47% more sales than the prior year. Since August, the area has remained in negative growth.
- Evansville: 29 sales, down 14%.
- Other Declining Markets: Lafayette, Valparaiso, Elkhart, Kosciusko County, and Clark County.
