These Counties Have Growing Sales

Six-in-ten counties with enough sales data to measure year-over-year trends are showing sales growth over the last three weeks.

Among 41 counties with at least five closings both this year and last during the past three weeks, 24 show sales gains. Overall, sales are up about 4% statewide compared to the same period a year ago — but among the growing counties, sales have surged by an average of 16%.

Leading the pack are smaller and mid-sized counties posting huge double-digit gains:

• Harrison County saw the sharpest increase, with sales up 82% compared to last year.
• Grant County followed, with sales rising 51%.
• Wells County posted a 50% gain.
• Martin County sales climbed by 39%.
• Warrick County rounded out the top five, with a 36% increase.

Some of Indiana's largest counties are posting strong sales growth:

• Hendricks County saw the strongest growth among large counties, with sales rising 31%.
• Lake County sales are up 7% over last year.
• Hamilton County sales are up 13%.
• Madison County saw 28% growth in sales.

Meanwhile, some of Indiana’s other large counties by sales volume are seeing more negative trends:

• Marion County sales are down slightly, dipping 4% year-over-year.
• Hamilton County is essentially flat, with sales down by less than 1%.
• Allen County posted a 4% decrease.
• St. Joseph County sales fell by 10%.

These patterns suggest that while the statewide market is regaining momentum, growth is mixed in Indiana’s biggest population centers.
