4 of 5 Metros Post Year-Over-Year Sales Gains

Sept. 22, 2025, 10:32 a.m. Quick insight

Indiana is experiencing broad-based sales growth in recent weeks. This map shows year-over-year sales growth in the last three week, and most counties had positive growth. Two-thirds of counties with at least 10 sales in the last three weeks had positive sales growth—and these counties represent 80% of statewide sales.

Sales growth is spread among all community types, from rural to urban. All community types had positive sales growth, led by counties with stand-alone small cities. (These are counties that are mostly rural, but where a large share of the population lives in a small city. This includes Montgomery County and Lawrence County, for example.)

12 of Indiana's 15 metropolitan areas have positive sales growth in recent weeks. The only exceptions are Louisville, Cincinnati, and Muncie. Kokomo and Lafayette have very strong sales growth, around 50% higher than the same period last year.
